William's Story

PRINCETON — William T. Allen of Princeton passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 following a long illness in a Crystal Springs nursing home. He was born April 23, 1924 in Newbern, VA and was the son of the late Lula Allen and James Gillia.
Mr. Allen was of the protestant faith and a veteran of U.S. Army serving in WWII, he served in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He earned a bronze star and a presidential citation. Mr. Allen was a member of the Elks, Moose Lodge and a member of the Shrine.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son David Lee Allen, his first wife Clara Allen and second wife Nadia Allen. He spent his last 21 years as a companion to Eloise Ratliff. Mr. Allen was aware he was loved to the end.
Surviving are his daughters Bev Allen and Patricia Allen and a daughter-in-law Gina Allen all of Connecticut, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Private burial will be at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley.
