Will's Story

Will G. Gordon, 89, of Bluefield, WV entered Heaven on Wednesday, November 22nd.
Will was born in 1928 in Alliance, Nebraska to Cornelia Willis and Frank William Gordon.
He was a resident of Bluefield since 1962, and a dedicated member of Trinity United Methodist Church. ? He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Sanders Gordon, and son, William Dudley Gordon, and is survived by his son Mark W. Gordon and his wife Wendy M. Gordon of Cocoa Beach, Florida, and granddaughters Hannah Gordon Haynes (husband Casey Haynes) of San Francisco, CA and Abigail Gordon (fiancé Spencer Joyce) of Louisville, KY.
Will lived a full and rewarding life! He was a gifted teacher, enjoying a successful career as a college professor for 42 years at Bluefield College leaving a lasting impact on his students, and receiving many blessings from them as well. He also taught classes at Bluefield State College as an adjunct professor. As a Sunday School teacher, he taught the Christian Action Class at Trinity United Methodist Church for over 45 years. He also enjoyed serving his Christian faith in support of Trinity United Methodist Church in many capacities. Another personal pleasure were the many years "pitching" in the church and community softball leagues in the Bluefield Rec Leagues, making many lifelong friends and enjoying the competition amongst the softball community in the "Bluefields".
Will earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Being a "teacher" was his calling and he shared his lessons of education and life with many. This is his legacy and lives on in each "student" having the benefit of knowing him.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 10am at Trinity United Methodist Church followed by a "Lunch and Fellowship" for everyone to visit and share stories.
Honorary pallbearers are Mark Brewster, Tim Caldwell, Ray Froy, Pat Haye, David Henry, Denver Raines, Paul Sutphin, Rick Taylor and Joe Turley.
