Wayne's Story

BLUEFIELD Wayne Wilson Walker Sr., 71 of Hickory Point Drive, Bluefield, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, January 30, 2018 at Princeton Community Hospital with his loving family at his side.
Born September 24, 1946 at Gary, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Walker and Glenna Heileman Walker.
Wayne was a graduate of Bluefield High School and a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving with the U.S. Marine Corp.
For 27 years, Wayne worked for Consolidated Coal as a mechanic and was a member of the UMWA. Following his retirement from the coal industry, he worked for Industrial Transport for 22 years.
Wayne was an avid supporter for all sports at Bluefield High School and was devoted to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Wanda McNeil and a son-in-law Randall Maxey.
Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Kathy Stanley Walker, Three children and their spouses: Wayne W. and Sandra Walker Jr., Sharon and Kevin Fry, Karen and Tracy Shrader; His grandchildren whom he loved and adored, Katelyne Thomas, Wayne Walker III, Kelsey Fry, Randy Maxey, John Maxey, Mason Walker, Luke Shrader and Faith Shrader; One Great-grandchild, Elle Thomas; One brother David and Linda Walker.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Wayne W. Walker Sr. will be held Thursday (Today) 1:00 P.M. at East End Baptist Church in Bluefield with Pastor Chad Lambert officiating.
Friends may visit with the family today from noon until the service hour at the church. Private Inurnment will be held Friday at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to be made to Bluefield High School Wide Boosters, In memory of Wayne, 535 W. Cumberland, Bluefield, WV 24701.
