Wanda Bailey Stevenson of Raleigh, NC formerly of Bluefield, VA passed away on July 2, 2019, one day after her 90th birthday. Born in Arista, WV on July 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late James Alton and Clara Agee Bailey.
Wanda graduated from Matoaka High School and McLains Business College and attended Bluefield College. She worked for the Appalachian Power Company in the Princeton and Bluefield offices. Wanda was a longtime member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday School teacher. She was a gifted artist. Two of her paintings appeared on the cover of the Medley section of the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. She was a wonderful cook and baker and enjoyed spending time with her loved ones including her "animal friends".
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brother Bobby Bailey and special brother Melvin "Sonny" Bailey.
She is survived by Joe her husband of 63 years, daughter Melody Willis (Marvin) and grandson Hunter also of Raleigh. She is also survived by three brothers and a sister and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church, 1901 Virginia Ave, Bluefield, VA 24605.
A service in the mausoleum at Grandview Memory Gardens; 38659 Governor GC Peery Hwy., Bluefield, VA 24605; will be held Saturday July 13, 2019 at 3:00pm.
Arrangements are being handled by Dudley Funeral Home in Bluefield and Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Raleigh.

So sorry to learn of Aunt Wanda's passing.
My memories of her are fond ones.
When I was a little girl, I always thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen.
The love between her and my Uncle Joe was always impressive to me.
