Walter's Story

Mr. Walter "Bud" Nelson Davis, 81, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby, NC. He was born on November 4, 1935 in Welch, WV to the late Walter and Hattie Davis.
Mr. Nelson was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in Southern California. He enjoyed attending Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar and played many venues in the 1970's with his band, "The Country Gentlemen". He also loved bowling and bowled many years at Mountaineer Bowling Lanes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Davis and Robert Davis and sisters, Catherine Rutherford and Patricia Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty L. Davis; his sons, David Davis of Daytona Beach, FL and Darin Davis of Shelby, NC; a grandson, Joshua Davis and wife Kristen of Port Angeles, WA and his mother, Kay Davis; one brother, John Davis and wife Evelyn of Bluefield, VA and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held at Wendover Hospice in Shelby, NC following his passing with Rev. Janice Cooper conducting the service.
