Virtie Corennia Lane, age 86 of the Dry Fork Community of North Tazewell, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior, Monday, October 16, 2017, while a patient at the Abingdon Health and Rehab Center in Abingdon, VA.
She was born September 7, 1931 at Newhall, WV and was a daughter of the late Everett (Glen) and Pearlie Mae Brewster Baldwin. Mrs. Lane was a retired cook with the Tazewell County School System, having worked for many years at Tazewell Elementary. She was a member of the El Bethel Church in Baptist Valley, VA and was a wonderful example of the virtuous woman mentioned in Proverbs 31, for her worth was far greater than rubies. She was the kindest, most giving woman, who enjoyed working on crafts, she loved to sing in the church choir, sing solos and was a member of several groups who sang on television and radio; she was a God and family type of lady. She was a member of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 Ladies Auxiliary in Tazewell, VA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she will be so greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Emory Robert "Jack" Lane, aka "Buttermilk"; her second husband, A.Y. Waldron; infant son, Jackie Dale Lane; one brother, Frank Baldwin; one sister, Lorenia Stilwell.
Those who survive to cherish her loving memory include her daughter, Cathy Sharron Lane and Carl "Pete" Miller of Blountville, TN; two sons, Emory Joel Lane and wife, Brenda of North Tazewell, VA and Steven "Rocky" Lane and wife, Sybol of Bastian, VA; step-children, Freddy Waldron and wife, Patty and Rita Waldron Chandler both of Tazewell, VA, Ricky Waldron and wife, Traci of Garner, NC and Brenda Waldron of Keen Mountain, VA; five sisters, Lucy Jane Westberry Newman of Ridgeway, SC, Julia Ann Smith and Lula Carolyn Scott both of Tazewell, VA Joan Yvonne Anders and husband, Mike of Marion, VA and Dolly Margaret Crockett of Canton, OH; two brothers, George Harman Baldwin and wife, Regina of Morristown, TN and Roy Allen Baldwin of North Tazewell, VA; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA where a funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. with Pastors Sammy Barnett and Chris White officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Those wishing to travel in procession with the family to the cemetery are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m.
