Violet's Story

Violet Lester, 88, of War, WV, passed away March 9, 2018 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center, Bluefield, WV. She was born on December 22, 1929 in Warriormines, WV, the daughter of the late Walter and Carry Hughes Turner.
Violet was a resident of War the greater part of her life. She was a homemaker and member of the War Church of God, War, WV. Also a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Lester, one sister: Eloise Smith, three brothers: Walter Turner, Jr., William Turner and infant brother, Lester Turner.
Survivors include: one daughter, Belinda (husband, Mark) James, War, WV. Two granddaughters: Erin James, War, WV and Carrie Gross, Huntsville, TX. Two great grandchildren: Raistlin Gross, Lenoir, NC and Alexa Gross, Lenoir, NC. One sister: Shelby Evans, Tazewell, VA. Three brothers: Aaron Turner, Tazewell, VA, Ralph Turner, Henderson, NC and Frank Turner, Waynesboro, VA.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the War Church of God, War, WV where funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Leroy Richards officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens, Bluefield, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
