U. S. Navy Retired MMCM Roy William's Story

PRINCETON — Roy William "Bill" Harman, 79, of Quail Valley Estates, Princeton died early Tuesday morning, March 28, 2017 at his residence.
Born April 23, 1937 in Princeton, he was the son of the late William Roy Harman and Rebecca Hager Harman.
After graduating from Princeton High School in 1955, he then served for 20 years in the Navy, rising to the rank of MMCM upon his retirement from the U. S. Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict & Vietnam Conflict. Upon his return to Princeton, he worked for Princeton Armature and Semco Corporation at Narrows VA. He was a very faithful member of Carr Memorial United Methodist Church at Glenwood Park having served on various board and committees.
Besides his family and church, Bill loved to assist other people and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Survivors include his loving and caring wife of 58 years, Janet Morris Harman, three children; Sherry & Glen Thomason of Chester VA, Sandra & Danny Kuhn of Myrtle Beach SC, William G. & Shelley Harman of Bluefield, six grandchildren; Elise Deal, Kristen Deaton, Amanda Matlingly, Ryan Shreve, Cody Harman & Chad Harman. 5 great grandchildren; Daphne, Ava, Henry, Fiona, & Travis.
Three siblings Rebecca Ann & Halburn Kitts of Colonel Heights VA, Ron & Jane Harman of Long SC, Bess Ella & Tom Via of Fredericksburg VA. A host of nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Retired MMCM Bill Harman will be held 11:00 AM from Carr Memorial United Methodist Church at Glenwood Park with Pastors Ken Price and Gerald Roberts officiating. Inurnment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with full military honors given under the directions of the U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may visit with the family Friday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the church.
