Truman Emily Perkins, age 96, of Doran, VA passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Clinch Valley Medical Center. Born January 21, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Bell and Mary Jane Hill Simmons. She was a member and attended the Regular Primitive Baptist Church and was a retired nurse.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Franklin Perkins; three brothers, Andy Simmons, George Simmons, and Kenneth Simmons; two sisters, Ella Ward and Margaret Sabato; son-in-law, Jack Cantrell.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by three sons, Morris Perkins of Wytheville, VA, Kelly Perkins and wife Brenda of Loganville, GA, Billy Perkins and wife Barbara of Front Royal, VA; two daughters, Janice Cantrell of Richlands, VA and Teresa Cross and husband Tommy of Front Royal, VA; one sister, Carol Simmons Smith of CO; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Elders Junior Davis, Aaron Williams and Ronnie Beavers officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 P.M. Saturday at Singleton Funeral Service.
