Timothy's Story

Timothy DeWayne Rasnick, age 54 of Tazewell, VA passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018 near his beach house in Dunedin, Florida.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jill Peters Rasnick, and their two children, Megan Rasnick Carner and husband Justin of Tazewell and son, Carter of the home. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Timothy DeWayne (T.J.) Rasnick, Jr.
Tim was a 1981 graduate of Tazewell High School and a 1987 graduate of Bluefield State College. He was a 31 year employee of Tazewell County Public Schools. During his tenure, he was a basketball coach, golf coach and was instrumental in bringing the sport of soccer to Tazewell High School by establishing the program in 1997. He has been the only varsity boys soccer coach in the history of the program. He was also an avid fisherman and talented woodworker, creating many special pieces for his home and family.
Tim is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Boothe Rasnick of Tazewell, VA, brothers William Rasnick, Jr. and wife Debbie, Greg Rasnick and wife Sherri, and Scott Rasnick and wife Lisa, several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, countless friends and his loyal dog, Tyson.
A Public graveside service will be held at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 11:30 AM with the Reverend Matthew Rich and the Reverend Lawrence Hayes officiating. Processional will begin at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers are Carter Rasnick, Justin Carner, Scott Rasnick, Greg Rasnick, Chris Rasnick, Jake House, Jeremy Call and David Lambert. Honorary Pallbearers are Gregory Rasnick and William Rasnick, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Coach Timothy D. Rasnick Memorial Scholarship at First Sentinel Bank, P.O. Box 167, Tazewell, VA 24651.
