Thomas "Tommy" Stanley, age 63 of North Tazewell, VA died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. He was born July 8, 1954 at Richlands, VA and was the son of Mrs. Corena Stanley of Tazewell, VA and the late Kenneth C. Stanley.
Tommy had worked for many years as a painter and contractor. He enjoyed fishing and watching football; he was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Mr. Stanley liked listening to music; talk radio's Rush Limbaugh, Fox News and was a fan of President Donald Trump.
In addition to his mother, those who survive to cherish his memory include the love of his life, Doris Mitchell, who was his companion for over thirty-six years; one son, Jarrod Mitchell of the home; two step-sisters, Barbara McNeil of Lexington Park, MD and Carolyn Adkisson and husband, Arvine of Layette, LA; special aunt, Marsha Stanley and husband, Thomas Curly of Virginia; his best buddy and Basset Hound, Gus; several other family members and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Tommy Stanley will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Pastor Danny Whitt officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. Friends and family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
