Thomas's Story

Thomas (Tommy) Theodore Alexander passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his home. Tommy was born September 5, 1947 in Bluefield, WV to the late Hendricks (Joe) and Ella Alexander.
Tommy was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of Hancock Elementary, Genoa Jr. High, and Park Central High; graduating in 1965. Tommy joined the U. S. Air Force, honorably serving his country for 3 years. Following his service, Tommy was an employee of Norfolk & Western Railroad in Bluefield, WV, The Cadillac Plant in Detroit, MI, and as a car salesman in Orangeburg, SC. Tommy missed his hometown of Bluefield and moved back. Tommy was always picking up trash in Bluefield. Tommy spent the majority of his time at the library. The Librarian stated that Tommy was an inspiration to all.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by brothers: James (Jimmy) and Robert (Bobby); and sisters: Vada, Frances, Eula, and Carolyn.
Tommy leaves to cherish his memory; brothers: Harry (Janice) Donald Alexander of Detroit MI, Chester Eugene Alexander of Greensboro, NC; sister Dolly Alexander Tatum of Redford, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11am at AP McConnell Funeral Home, 260 Cherry Street, with Pastor Michael L. Bratton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
