Shirley Ann's Story
Shirley Ann Mitchell Pickett, 80, of Bluefield, formerly of Princeton passed away Friday, October 6, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born August 7, 1937 at Worth, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edward "Ed" Mitchell and Mary Simon Mitchell.
After graduating from Northfork High School, Shirley served as a Magistrate in McDowell County, WV until her retirement. Shirley loved the Lord, having attended the Northfork Baptist Church and the Crozer Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting, and crafting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Richard Pickett.
Survivors include her daughter, Diana Nash and husband, Frank, of Bluefield, WV; two grandchildren, Joe Nash and wife, Amy, of Jacksonville, Fl, and Margie Shrader and husband, Daniel, of Bluefield, WV; four great grandchildren, Isaiah, Elijah, and Sadie Shrader and Luke Nash; and sister, Dorothy Flippen, of Roanoke, VA; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Musick, of Chicago, Il(whom she loved to do crafts and play cards with) and Barbara Pickett, of Bluefield, WV; two nephews whom opened up their homes to her for visits, Bill Flippen and wife, Heidi, and James Dalton and wife, Wanda, all of Roanoke, VA; several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory with Rev. Jim Blevins and Rev. Martin West officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
Family & friends serving as pallbearers will be Frank Nash, Joe Nash, Daniel Shrader, Bill Flippen, Jeff Nash and Steve Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Dalton, James Taylor and Robert Beavers.
