PETERSTOWN Sherry Jones Baker, age 57, passed away Tuesday, December 26 following a brief illness. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends.
Sherry was born May 1, 1960, the daughter of Thomas and Betty Lou Jones. After graduating from Peterstown High School, she received a bachelor's degree from Concord University and a master's degree from West Virginia University. As a lifelong educator, Sherry began her teaching career in McDowell County and later returned to teach in Monroe County. Most recently, she held the positions of Attendance Director and Child Nutrition Coordinator. Additionally, she served as an adjunct professor at Marshall University.
Sherry is survived by her husband Steve, daughter Ann-McKenzie Kathleen, and her mother Betty Lou Jones. She is additionally survived by eight brothers and sisters, Marshall and Pat Jones, Mike and Sue Jones, Larry and Connie Jones, Jane and Bill Kersey, Tommie and Tony Noble, Rick and Sharon Jones, Tim and Cathy Jones, and Melissa Evans. She is also survived by special friends Lisa and Barry Meadows and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her dad, Thomas Jones.
Sherry's brothers will serve as pallbearers, in addition to nephews Greg Jones, Andrew and Benjamin Evans.
The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. to 9 P.M. on Friday, December 29 at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown and one hour prior to services at the church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 P.M. on Saturday, December 30 at Peterstown United Methodist Church with Dr. John Sauvage and Pastor Becky Van Stavern officiating. Burial service will follow at Peterstown Cemetery.
