Sgt. & Rev. Jackson Daniel J.D. Clark, Ret. Sgt. & Rev. Jackson Daniel "J.D." Clark, Ret., 95, of Maple Acres Road, Princeton died Tuesday evening, February 5, 2019 at Mercer Nursing & Rehab Center in Bluefield.
Born December 2, 1923 in Princeton, he was the son of the late Marvin Clark Sr. and Trilby Coburn Clark.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army where he retired as SGT. He had served in China, Burma and India.
J. D. attended Princeton schools and WV Business College, Bluefield State College and graduated from Duke University with a Seminary Degree.
He has worked as a conductor for the Virginian and N&W, as well as Norfolk Southern Railroad with 40 years of service. He was a member of the United Transportation Union for more than 60 years.
For many years, he served as pastor for churches both in Virginia and West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings; Marvin Clark Jr.; Ronald L. Clark; June Lawson; Maxine Pendleton and Sylvia White.
Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 70 years, Glenna Hill Clark; Son, Jeffrey and Cathy Clark; Grandchildren, Corey and Melissa; Courtney and Jason Hill; Great-grandchildren, Jackson Clark and Remington "Remy" Hill; Sister, Mona Morrison along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service of celebration will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 9, 2019 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Gerald Roberts and Tracy French officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with military honors given under the direction of the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may visit with the family Friday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared with the family via
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The Clark family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
