Samuel W.'s Story
Samuel W. "Sam" Angles, Jr. age 85 of Tazewell, VA died Monday, November 20, 2017 at Welmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.
Born October 1, 1932 at Maxwell, VA, he was a son of the late Samuel William Angles, Sr. and Mary Louise Lockhart Angles. He was a US Army Veteran and a member of Tazewell Presbyterian Church. Sam was known by many as a sports enthusiast. He was an excellent bowler, table tennis champion and lover of golf. The New York Yankees were his favorite team. One of his greatest moments was his hole in one at Wolf Creek Country Club. Christmas was his favorite time of year. He loved life and could often be heard humming a song. His greatest love was his family and pets.
Sam was a kind and hardworking man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends!
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Angles; son, William Mark Angles and wife, Laurie of Lewis Center, OH; daughter, April Angles McDonald and husband, Richard of Taylorsville, NC; step daughter, Pandora Lynn Hayes of Chester, VA; sister, Lois Jane Angles of Tazewell, VA; grandchildren, Melina Angles, Steven Angles, Brennon McDonald, and Will Hayes; great granddaughter, Emmilia Angles.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday, November 24, 2017 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Saturday, November 25th with the Reverend Dr. Dave Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of Barns Beavers VFW Post #7136 of Tazewell, VA and Virginia National Honor Guard Team of Gate City, VA.
