Samuel Joseph's Story

Samuel Joseph "Sammy" Hendrick, age 14 of Tazewell, VA gained his angel wings on Friday, January 12, 2018. Sammy was born April 22, 2003 at Summerville, SC and was a son of Samuel G. and Stephanie Young Hendrick.
Sammy was a special young man who was an Honorary Member of the Town of Tazewell Police Department and an Honorary Fireman with the Weirton Fire Department. He loved motorcycles and Hummers. He attended Camp Creek Community Church at Camp Creek, WV. Sammy brought a smile to the face of everyone he met and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, those who survive to cherish his memory include one brother, Bernard Shane Hendrick of Cabin Creek, WV; one sister, Misty Dawn Gilbert and husband, Jens of Port St. Lucie, FL; paternal uncle, Stephen Hendrick and wife, Lynn of Tallahassee, FL; paternal aunt, Patricia Hendrick Fair of Summersville, WV; maternal uncle, James Mark Young and wife, Cathy of San Antonio, TX; maternal aunts, Cheryl Lynn Brown of Summerville, SC and Phyllis Jane Young of Mount Lookout, WV; one niece, Tessa Bellamy of Port St. Lucie, FL; one nephew, Christian Gilbert of Port St. Lucie, FL; special caregiver, "Aunt" Becky Kitts of Tazewell, VA; several cousins and other family members and many friends also survive.
Funeral Services for Samuel Joseph "Sammy" Hendrick will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with Pastor William Sweeney and Pastor Lawrence Cantrell officiating. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memory Garden Mausoleum in Ansted, WV. Pallbearers will be Nelson Blankenship, Charles Asbury, Tim Kitts, Randy Carter, Sammy Jackson and George Johnston. DeWitt Cooper and members of the Town of Tazewell Police Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 9 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018.
