Sammie Lane Thompson Harman, 96, of 630 Pine Hill Lane, Bastian, Virginia passed, Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Kissito - Bland County Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born November 28, 1921 in Rocky Gap, Virginia, Sammie was a daughter of the late Leroy Blaine Thompson and Annie May Bruce Thompson. She was a homemaker and attended Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Bastian, Virginia. Her greatest love was caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, Sammie was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Diane Harman, a son, Michael Edward Harman, and, a sister, Jessie Blaine Thompson King and, her husband, Justice B. King.
Sammie is survived by her husband of 81 years, Elmer Edward Harman, of the home, a daughter, Jerri Elaine Harman, and, her husband, Keith Costello, of Rocky Gap, Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley, Bluefield, WV, with Reverend Alan Ashworth officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pine Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Billy Jean Carty, 15 Pine Hill Lane, Bastian VA 24314.
