Roy Stephen Williams, 93, of Bluefield, VA (Abbs Valley) passed away Saturday, December 02, 2017 at Loving Hands Adult Care in Bluefield, WV. Born in Thompson Valley, VA he was the son of the late John Henry and Lillie Elizabeth Cornwell Williams. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army serving in the European Theatre where he was awarded a Purple Heart. Roy was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church in Abbs Valley, VA and was employed in construction.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife Katherine Adena Burgess Williams; brothers Aaron, Arthur and Freeman Williams and sisters Cara and Mildred Bostic.
Survivors include his two daughters, Patty Rae McReynolds (William Michael) of Bland, VA and Carolyn Sue Farmer (Thomas) of Bland, VA; brother, Wiley "Uncle Fuzz" Williams (Dorothy) of Abbs Valley, VA; sisters, Fannie Thompson of Abbs Valley, VA and Gladys Funk (Corky) of Delaware; grandchildren, Wendy McReynolds Dale (Thomas) of Columbus, GA, Matthew McReynolds (Rhonda) of Cleveland, TN, Andy McReynolds (Audrey) of Floyd, VA, Tim Farmer of Lynchburg, VA, Jeff Farmer of Bland, VA and Shelly Davis and companion Travis Williams of Bluefield, VA; great grandchildren, Stephen, Bailey, Nathan, Waylon and Gwendolyn McReynolds and Beth Davis.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA with Rev. Carlos Hess, Pastor Steve Ryman and Harold Chinsolo officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Friends may call Monday, December 4, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA.
