BLUEFIELD Ronald Harrison Akers, 80, of Bull Tail Hollow Road, Bluefield went home Tuesday afternoon to be with his Lord & Savior.
Born November 3, 1936 in Bluefield, he was the son of the late Lonnie Harrison Akers & Fannie Shrader Akers.
Mr. Akers was a retired employee with WV American Water Company with more than 30 years of service. He was of the Church of God faith. While his health permitted, Mr. Akers enjoyed being outside, he loved to hunt, fish; go to flea markets and his flowers.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his devoted & caring wife of 55 years, Clara Ruth Caudill Akers, his three sons & their spouses: Dwight Harrison Akers of Buford, GA, Ronald Wayne & Theresa Akers of Bluefield, Brian Scott & Sarah Elizabeth Akers of Hedgesville along with his seven grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Stephanie, Ashley, Kayleigh, Savanna. Reagan, Andrew & Brandon.
Services to celebrate the life of Ronald H. Akers will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Cumberland Road Church of God in Bluefield with Bishop Michael York, Jim & Wanda Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Akers Family Cemetery just off the Airport Road, Bluefield.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 6 until 8 PM at the Cumberland Road Church of God in Bluefield.

Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Thompson, Chris Clemons, Eric Basham, Keith Boyd, Jim Neece & Jr. Looney. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Hale.
The Akers family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
