ROCK Robert H. (Bobby) Williams, 87 of Rock died peacefully on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at home with his family by his side. Born December 6, 1929 at Widemouth, he was the son of the late Russell Williams and Vera Robertson Williams.
Bobby was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing at revivals in many local churches. He was a coal miner for 41 years and retired from Consolidated Coal Company at Itmann in 1987. He was a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed farming and hunting.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Delila Bowling Williams; two children, Darla Davidson and husband Mac of Charleston and Glen Williams and wife Connie of Maiden, NC; two grandsons, Randall Williams and wife April of Lincolnton, NC and Scott Williams of Maiden, NC; three great grandchildren, Matthew, Jacob and Tristin Williams of North Carolina; a special brother-in-law, J. W. Bowling and wife Tammy and a special sister-in-law Freda McPherson all of Spanishburg; one brother, Angie Williams and three sisters, Arlene Heffner, Lena Dills and Iva Murphy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel with Rev. Glen Williams and Rev. Larry Akers officiating where Military Honors will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Following the service the body will be cremated and interment will be at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, September 17 at the funeral home.
