Robert W.'s Story
Robert W. "Popcorn" Corder, 75 of North Tazewell, VA died Sunday, December 31, 2017 at his home.
Born May 18, 1942 at Rocky Gap, VA, he was a son of the late Alvie and Lelia Millirons Corder. He was a member of Mary's Evangelical Presbyterian Church at Gratton, VA.
Mr. Corder was a US Army Veteran and former coal miner with 19 years' service who was known to his fellow miners as "Popcorn". He was also a deliveryman for Ferrell Gas for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Corder; son, Jimmy Whitt; sister, Edna Corder; brothers, Roger and Dewey Corder.
He is survived by sons, Roger Whitt and wife, Toni of Tazewell, VA, Steve Whitt and wife, Mary of North Tazewell, VA, Danny Whitt and wife, Mary of Tazewell, VA, and Rick McCann and wife, Donna of Tazewell, VA; daughters, Brenda Leffler and husband, Tom of Tazewell, VA and Rita McCann and husband, Gary of North Tazewell, VA; brother, Garland Corder and wife, Marie of Knoxville, TN; sister, Ruth Corder Mitchell and husband, Woody of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Angela Robinette, Robin Leffler, Shannon Whitt, Tina Jenkins, Matthew Whitt, Robert Whitt, Eric Whitt, Gary McCann, Jr., Kevin McCann, Erica Mercer, Kim Bridges, Melinda Stilwell, and Wendy Hicks; twenty four great grandchildren; special family members, Debbie Stilwell and Johnathan Stilwell, Bobby and Lucretia Green; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Thursday, January 4, 2018 with the Reverend Kenny Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
