Richard D.'s Story
Richard D. (Richie) Thompson, 64, of the Bronx, New York, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 27, 2017.
He was born in Tazewell, Virginia on August 7, 1953 to the union of Bernard Edgar and Lucy Campbell Thompson; he was preceded in death by both parents. He graduated from Tazewell High School where he played on the Bulldogs football team. After high school, he relocated to Detroit, Michigan where he worked for the Ford Motor Company and was married to Annie Mae Baker for several years. He was also an over the road truck driver and later moved from Michigan to New York.
He leaves to cherish his memory son, Richard (Cloudet Deddah) Thompson, Jr. of Ypsilanti, Michigan; daughter, Elyse (Victor) Bothuel of Detroit, Michigan and adopted daughter, Tanya (Kevin) Bradford of Jackson, Mississippi. Brother, Edgar (Ophelia) Thompson of Perrysburg, Ohio; sister, Brenda Scales of Lebanon, Virginia; 5 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on January 10, 2018, 2 pm at Claremont Independent Living Center located at 1431 College Ave., Bronx, NY 10456 (646-214-2500).
At Richie's request, his remains will be cremated and his ashes spread in Bronx, NY.
