Phil M. Prescott, 78 of the Baptist Valley community in North Tazewell, VA passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Wellmont Hospice House at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN.
Born May 27, 1939 at Glenwood, AL he was a son of the late E.W. and Sherrill Foley Prescott. He graduated from Kinston High School in 1957 and from Massey-Drawn Business College in 1959. Following graduation, he worked for S.H. Kress Company in Jackson, MS, Tuscaloosa, AL, and Vineland, NJ before moving to Belle Glade, FL where he worked for Winn Dixie, Royal's, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department until his retirement in 2005. After retirement, he moved to Tazewell, VA where he enjoyed four-wheeling and church activities. He was an active member of Canebrake Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alice Rose Prescott; son, Randy M. Prescott of Belle Glade, FL; grandson, Zachary Prescott of Belle Glade, FL; granddaughter, Amanda Jacobs of Okeechobee, FL; two great granddaughters, Camryn and Aubrey; two sisters, Linda Rhodes and husband, Bill and Gail Prescott all of Kinston, AL; four brothers, Henry L. Prescott and wife, Mary of Milton, FL, Gerald F. Prescott and wife, Claudia of Etoile, TX, K. Wayne Prescott of Englewood, FL, Scott Prescott and wife, Shelia of Opp, AL; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Monday, September 25, 2017 with the Reverend Darrell Long officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
