PETERSTOWN, WV Pauline S. DeHart, 91, of Peterstown, WV, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14th, 2017. Pauline was born May 19th, 1926, in Wythe County, Virginia, 20 minutes before her identical twin sister, Aline, who was her lifelong best friend. She was the daughter of the late Earl C. Sharpe and Annie Smith Sharpe of Pembroke, Virginia. She married the love of her life, Eddie DeHart, on October 9, 1958, and he preceded her in death after 51 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Earl C. Sharpe Jr., John David Sharpe, Joseph H. Sharpe, and Samuel T. Sharpe; and twin sister Aline S. Conn.
She is survived by her son Gary and grandson Logan of Peterstown, WV, and sisters Mildred Ward and Nancy Williams of Greensboro, NC. Pauline had many special nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved and cherished along with her second family, the staff at Kanawha Hospice Care, the staff at Country View Assisted Living, and all the caregivers who took care of Pauline over the years, including special caregiver and friend, Linda Gravely of Melbourne, FL.
The loves of her life were Eddie, Gary, and Logan. Her time with them was priceless. She loved big family gatherings and spending time with her family she held so near to her heart. Pauline loved to travel and tops on her list of trips was Hawaii (1987) and Graceland (multiple times). Yes, she was an Elvis fan. Pauline will be remembered for her quick wit and amazing sense of humor. Laughter was a requirement around Pauline.
Pauline was employed by Celanese Corporation in Narrows, VA, and retired with 47 years of service. She and Eddie enjoyed retirement in the greater Orlando area for 13 years. There they composed a large network of friends. During this time, Pauline developed a love for painting. Her pictures are rich in color, bright, and light up a room just as she did.
Pauline started her marriage carrying a prayer book topped with white carnations and satin streamers. God was the center of her life and her deep faith in God was evident through her dedication and devotion at the First United Methodist Church in Rich Creek, VA, where she was a member for over forty years.
