PRINCETON Patricia "Patty" Canterbury, 68, of Princeton went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at her home, surrounded by family following a short battle with cancer.
Born June 17, 1949 at Camp Creek, she was the daughter of the late Floyd "Steve" Hensley, Sr. and Grace V. Darnell Hensley.
Patty had been a member of Stovall Ridge Baptist Church but in recent years had attended many local churches in the area including Kegley Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who loved spending time and caring for her family as well as gardening, mowing grass and taking care of her pets. She and husband Jim had owned and operated J & P Transport for 22 years.
Patty is survived by her husband of 49 years, James "Jim" Canterbury, Jr.; daughter Rhonda Harmon and husband Kenny of Kegley; son, Samuel Canterbury of Princeton; two grandsons, Adam Harmon and Jacob Harmon both of Kegley; three brothers, John Hensley and wife Hilde of Windsor, CT, Floyd "Steve" Hensley and wife Cleda of Beeson and Ed Hensley and wife Loren of Beeson; two sisters, Mary Laffrey and husband John of Princeton and Pina Thomason and husband Stuart of Roanoke, VA as well as a host of nieces and nephews and her last rescue pet, Dexter.
In keeping with Patty's wishes, a graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Elder Tamika Taylor-Rodriguez officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. Family will serve as pallbearers.
