BLUEFIELD — Osie Owens Pfau, 89, of Bluefield, WV peacefully went home to be with her heavenly Father and beloved husband, Otha on Saturday, March 25, 2017 with her loving children by her side. Osie O. Pfau, born July 15, 1921, was the daughter of the late Andy J. Owens and Nancy Jane Viers Owens.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Otha D. Pfau, Jr.; siblings Henderson, Milton, Lonzy, Venoy, Gay, Oma, Dewey, Clifton and many other loved ones. She was the last surviving member of her family.
Osie graduated from Grundy High School and briefly taught school in Buchanan County, VA. At age 19 she moved to Bluefield, WV to work for her brother Venoy in his accounting practice and to attend McLain's Business School. She was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She was a devoted wife, loving and tender mother and loyal friend, cherished by all who knew her. She was known for her kindness, thoughtfulness of others over herself and will be missed by all, especially her children.
Left to cherish her memory are son, Andrew D. Pfau and daughter I. Jane Pfau of Bluefield, WV with whom she made her home; sister-in-law, June Owens of Bristol, TN, in-laws Ralph and Mary Ann Kerns and Paul W. and Alta McDonough, special friends Geneva Lester and Jane Huffman and many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Osie's life will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 2:00pm at Mercer Funeral Home and Crematory in Bluefield WV with pastor Jonathan Rockness officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be family, friends and church members.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until the hour of the service.
