Nell (Duty) Woodrum, of the Poplar Creek section of Grundy, VA, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN, from injuries she sustained in a fall.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late John Bunyon and Bessie (McClanahan) Duty. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Poplar Creek Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a retired school teacher working 27-years in the Buchanan County School System where she also worked with the school's gifted program.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bill C. Woodrum, 4-Sisters: infant Lorriane Duty, Ethel Duty, Fern Duty and Irene Duty Mason; 1-Brother Billy Gordon Duty.
Those left to cherish her memory include 2-Daughters: Margaret Woodrum (Tom) Ratliff, St. Louis, MO, Lora Woodrum (Malcolm "Mike") Daniels, Grundy, VA; 1-Son: David Lewis (Carol) Woodrum Sr., Marion, VA; 1-Sister: Agnes Mabe, Great Falls, MT; 6-Grandchildren, 4-Great-Grandchildren, 4-Nephews, 2-Nieces, and former granddaughter-in-law.
She is also survived by 4-Special Assumed Grandchildren: and 1-Special Assumed Great-Granddaughter.
Funeral Services for Nell (Duty) Woodrum will be conducted Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Poplar Creek Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Rife and Evg. Jim Belcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
Friends may call at the Poplar Creek Church of Christ Wednesday evening at 5:00 P.M. with song services at 7:00 P.M.
