Mrs. James R. Glenn, age 79, formerly Janice L. Smith Glenn of 2700 Tolosa Street Bluefield, WV went to be with the Lord Sunday August 6, 2017 at Centerville, OH. Born August 2, 1938 in Bluefield, WV she was a daughter of the late Forrest Porter and Thelma Gwinn Smith. She graduated from Athens High School, and Mountain State University with a degree in Cosmetology. Janice was a cosmetologist and hairdresser for Designers Loft Hair Salon for 35 years. She found great joy in her profession. Janice was a former medical secretary for Charleston General Hospital, and was teacher's retirement board secretary. She was a member of the Evening Primrose Garden Club, loved music and growing many varieties of flowers in her garden, and attending plays at Barter Theater. Janice always thought of others and was a compassionate soul. She had a deep faith and love of Jesus Christ. Her last days were spent in the garden with family, full of laughter and friendship.
She is survived by her cousins, Mike and Jill Hindle of Cross Lanes, WV. Angela Dawn Reynolds of Charleston SC, Mike and Margie Gwinn of Bell, WV, Dale Gwinn of Clarksville Tennessee, Anna Bird of Jacksonville, NC, Harry and Dawn Rice of Reno, NV, Scarlett and David Kelhoffer of Carlisle OH, Chip and Carol Eggert of Centerville, OH and niece Suzanne and Gerald Montgomery of Portland, OR.
Over the years Janice received loving care from her caregivers Beth Byrd, Bonnie Hunt, and David Donethan.
Entombment, crypt and graveside service will be held Saturday August 12, 2017 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Cross Lanes, WV with Mike Hindle officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to West Virginia University Institute of Technology care of the Student Scholarship Program.
