Mrs. Helen's Story
Mrs. Helen Agnes Rutledge age 90, of Kyle, WV, who peacefully departed this life on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, in the comforts of her home.
She was born March 9, 1927, in Powhatan and the daughter of the late Reverend Raymond M. Harris Sr. and Mrs. Emma Hutchinson Harris. She was a graduate of Elkhorn High School and completed her LPN training and worked, until retiring from Stevens Clinic Hospital. She was a life long member and Mother of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Kyle. Also, a member and former director of the Senior Choir. She was a former member of the Board of Directors for the Commission on Aging in Welch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Rutledge and their daughter, Debby; her siblings: Edward, Ernest, Otha and Raymond Jr., sisters-in-law: Essie, Vonnie K. and Lola Harris and brother-in-law, Melvin Swanson.
She was a very loving, peaceful spirited lady, who will be greatly missed by her son, Daryll Y. Rutledge of the home; brother, James Harris of Cleveland, OH and sister, Mayme Swanson of Columbus, OH; special niece, Barbara "Peaches" Hairston of High Point, NC; a host of other nieces and nephews; many relatives, friends and two special friends, Geraldine Calloway of Elkhorn and Marie Scales of Gary; her Church family; COA van ladies and caregiver, Dina Bryson of Kyle.
Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church, 35237 Coal Heritage Road in Kyle, with Pastor Walter E. Clay officiating. Entombment will follow in Restlawn Mausoleum, 6605 New Hope Road in Bluewell. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m.
