Mrs. Eunice's Story
Mrs. Eunice V. Shinall, age 85, of Cedar Bluff, VA, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Russell County Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Tazewell County, VA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Virgie Charlotte Shelton. Eunice was a beautifully devoted wife and mother who always made her family a priority. She retired from a long, distinguished career at Richlands National Bank in 1997. She was also an active volunteer for many charitable organizations throughout her life. Eunice was a member of Community Heights Church and formerly volunteered as an administrative assistant in the church office.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Don Carlos Shinall, and one sister, Jessie Shelton Lawson.
She is survived by her two sons, Steven Shinall and wife Margaret "Meg" of Sumter, SC and Barry Shinall and wife Nancy of Cedar Bluff, VA; one brother Dennis Shelton and wife Barbara of Salem, VA; two sisters, Linda McGhee and husband Donnie of Cedar Bluff, VA and Shirley Crockett and husband Roy of Ocean City, MD; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Eunice was adored by her husband, sons, and her daughters-in-law who came to be true daughters to her. She was also a faithful and loving friend to many as well as a loving "Mom" to her pets. She lived a long life, blessed with much love and laughter. Her light will be missed but never, ever forgotten.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 30 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Timothy Brown and Rev. Brian Hoffman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be Dr. Gregory W. Ansley, Jerome Baldwin, Gary Lawson, Mike Luttrell, Mike Shawver, Elmer Shinall. Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Shinall, Brian Shelton, Kip Kirby, and Dale Elswick.
