Micheal Ray Blankenship, 66, of Max Meadows, VA, passed away Friday, November 10, 2017. He was born December 22, 1951 at Bland, VA, the son of the late Randolph Madison & Geneva Dykes Blankenship. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale, Jr. He was passionate about animals and would take in a stray in a heartbeat, especially cats.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Kenny Blankenship.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Bowles Blankenship; his sons & their spouses, James Micheal Blankenship & Johnny Adkison and Clarence Madison & Deidre Blankenship; his daughters & son-in-law, Patricia Ann Blankenship and Crystal Gayle & Joe Vibbert; his special grandchildren, Ethan McKinley and Madison Olivia; a brother, Lee Blankenship; a sister, Linda Berry; an aunt, Regina Harmon; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Waco Shaw and Sharon Mitchell.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Bastian Church of God with Pastor Cammy Bowles and Rev. Dennis Moore officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 P.M. until service time, 2:00 P.M. The family invites everyone that would like to join them, to a pot luck meal in the church fellowship hall following the service. Per his wishes, Micheal will be cremated, and the family plans to bury his cremains in Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his memory to help with funeral expenses.
