Mary Pauline Baker
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years William E Baker, two infant children Charles David and Anna Mae Baker, brother Charles Blankenship and sister Ann (Wayne) Wright.
She was honored to serve the Lord and her community at Christ First United Methodist Church in Abbs Valley, VA where she served faithfully and to the best of her ability as one that was there from the beginning.
Pauline started her career as a nursing assistant at Bluefield Sanitarium and St Mary's Hospital in Gary, Indiana. Returning to Boissevain, VA in 1976 she continued to do private in home care ending with caring for her husband until his passing in 2009. She also did her part during WWII by working in Ohio at an airplane factory as a welder and riveter.
Left to honor her memory are her son Buddy and wife Barb Baker; daughter Karen Baker; grandchildren David (Pam) Baker, Steve (Jill) Baker, Kim Baker Campbell (Jay); great grandchildren Abbie and Ally Baker, Aubrey, Mia, Gabby and Grant Baker, Nick Grico, Jenna and Evan Campbell; nephew Jimmy Blankenship, Marcie and Frank Torres, Darlene Diego, Jerry Harrison; sisters in law Virginia Baker Epperson and Charlotte Baker Baker; nephew Bruce Wright; niece Susan Wright and many nieces and nephews too numerous to list.
Special thanks to her caregivers Karen Hargrove, Dorothy Billings, Heather Sweeney, and Enid Umbarger with whom she resided. Many thanks to Legacy Hospice staff for their caring and comfort. Great thanks to all her neighbors in Boissevain that made it possible for her to stay home as long as she could especially Charles McClanahan.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Christ First United Methodist Church in Abbs Valley, VA with Pastor Steve Ryman officiating and former Pastor Carlos Hess assisting. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
Friends may call Monday, February 11, 2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Christ First United Methodist Church in Abbs Valley, VA.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Services are provided by Rodriguez Funeral Home, Pocahontas, VA.
