Margaret Geneva's Story
Margaret Geneva Cardwell Ball, of Gratton, VA formerly of Raysal, WV, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at her home. Born in 1925 in Newhall, WV, Margaret graduated from Big Creek High School and attended Concord College. She worked as a teacher's aide in Tazewell and McDowell counties and volunteered at Tazewell Community Hospital for 25 years. Margaret, whose smile lit up a room, was a lover of family, friends, birds, good food, Solitaire, and football.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Ball and three brothers Daniel, James and Frank Cardwell.
She is survived by four children, Betsy (Mike) Simpkins of OH, Randy (Trish) Ball of Tazewell, VA, Rick (Deb) Ball and Janet Jones of Princeton. WV; eight grandchildren, Jason Jones, Angel (Wes) Stanton, Josh (Chris) Simpkins and Sarah Simpkins, Kelsey (Eric) Conner, Zach Ball and Ethan Ball, and Keith Pruitt who, along with her eight great grandchildren brought great joy to her later years.
In lieu of flowers, plant something, feed the birds or make donations to the Tazewell County Humane Society.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where a memorial service celebrating her life will be conducted at 2 PM with the Reverend Dr. Thomas A. Conley and the Reverend Anthony Grills officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA.
