BLUEFIELD — Lynn Berlane Wade, 69, of Bluefield died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Westwood Nursing Center in Bluefield, VA.
Born November 17, 1947 in Buchannon, WV she was the daughter of the late Dr. Payton Randolph Higginbottham and Miriam Gwendolyn Hughes Higginbottham. She was a graduate of Palmer Memorial Institute in Sedalia, NC and a graduate of Bluefield State College with a B.S. Degree in Education.
Lynn was a retired teacher with the Mercer County School System last teaching at Glenwood Elementary with thirty years service. She also formerly taught in Tazewell County, VA. Lynn was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, and a faithful member of the Faith Center Church where she volunteered in different capacities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Miller.
Survivors include her husband, William B. "Buck" Wade of Bluefield; one daughter, Rhoda Louise Miller of Pipestem, WV; two grandchildren, Danielle Nicole Williams of PA and Kevin Rasaan Williams of Bluefield; one great grandson, Christopher Rasaan Williams of PA; special nephew, Galvester Wade of St. Albans, WV; brother-in-law, Dr. Howard P. Wade and wife Mary of Maybeury, WV; sister-in-law, Betty Jean Vernon of Euclid, OH; special friends, Loretta Martin of St. Albans, WV and Carolyn Coleman of South Point, OH; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Faith Center Church in Bluefield with Bishop Fred Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
