Liza Mullins Scarberry

Liza Mullins Scarberry, 84 years of age of Pounding Mill, VA, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Commonwealth Senior Living, Claypool Hill, VA, following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of the late William and Tillie (Whitt) Mullins. She was a longtime resident of Buchanan County and was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and was a wonderful homemaker. Mrs. Scarberry was a fan of Horseback Riding, Croquet, Bluegrass Festivals and especially her church family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Scarberry; 2-Sons: Paul Scarberry Jr. and Joe Scarberry; 5-Sisters: Susan Blankenship, Pearl Coleman, Maggie Hurley, Mary Blankenship and Florence Tester; 2-Brothers: Harry Mullins and Dave Mullins; several Half-Sisters and Brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Ebbie (Ken) Hampton of Grundy, VA; her sons, Danny Scarberry of Pounding Mill, VA, Brad Scarberry of Winston Salem, NC, Clell (Amy) Scarberry of Tuscaloosa, AL, William (Rita) Scarberry of Cedar Bluff, VA; her brother, Flem (Roxie) Mullins of Hurley, VA; her Sister-in-Law: Josephine Mullins.
Also, survived by 16-Grandchildren, 15-Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Liza Mullins Scarberry will be conducted Sunday, August 19, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church with Elders: Danny Hurley, Josh Junior Justus, Zeb Justus, Will Matney, George Thomason, David Lester, Roy Lester and other Elders of the Little Dove Older Regular Baptist Church officiating with burial to follow in the Scarberry Cemetery on Guesses Fork, Hurley, VA.
Friends may call at the Hurst Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, VA, Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday evening at the Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.
Active Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Monk, Johnny Gray, Darnell Justice and Fleming Mullins Jr.
Grundy Funeral Home of Grundy, VA is honored to serve the family of Liza Mullins Scarberry.

Prayers are being sent, and have been for days now. I didn't know her, but I'm friends with her grandson. Prayers are sent even more as this dear lady's family goes thru this. Remembering all family as this rough time passes by. Remember, everything happens for a reason and she's not suffering anymore. God's got a plan .

I am saddened to hear your passing, you where a wonderful grandmother and I will always cherish our times we had together. I always called you Groovy Grandma because well you where groovy and amazing. I’m sorry I didn’t spend your last days with you and things happened the way it did, but I will always remember and cherish you in every possible way, you are loved so much and will always and you will always be in my heart and on my mind, your presence will always be around me. Rest In Peace maw you don’t have to suffer any pain no more and paw will be with you by your side now. Love you always Groovy Grandma forever. Love Noel Groovy Grandaughter.
