Lillian Brewster Lillian Brewster, age 92 of the Thompson Valley community of Tazewell, VA died Monday, February 4, 2019 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital. Born December 19, 1926 in Tazewell, VA she was a daughter of the late Ernest Bolin Smith and Matilda Viola Sparks Smith. She was a member of Thompson Valley Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she has served as Deacon and Elder. She retired from Tazewell County Health Department. Lillian was an avid quilter and embroiderer, but most of she loved her Lord, her family and her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Brewster; daughter, Virginia Brewster; sister, Sylvia Reams; brothers, Raymond, Lawrence, Charles Edward, and Roy Lee Smith.
She is survived by her son, Ernie Brewster and wife, Marlene of Dandridge, TN; daughters, Dorothy Stevens and husband, James and Rose Poskas and husband, Byrchel, Jr. all of Thompson Valley, VA, Patricia Shelton and husband, Ken of Knoxville, TN, and Linda Lockhart and husband, Mike of North Tazewell, VA; brothers, George Smith of Princeton, WV and Ernest Smith of Wytheville, VA; sisters, Edith Brewster of Wytheville, VA, Elise Combs of Lebanon, VA, and Shirley Presley of Pounding Mill, VA; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM with Pastor Danny Whitt officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Thompson Valley, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or a favorite charity.
