Lawrence Clayton "Joe" Williams, 72, of Rock died Friday, July 7, 2017 at Charleston Area Medical Center.
Born November 20, 1944, in Jenkinjones, he was the son of the late Frank and Della Mae Mitchem Williams. He was the owner and operator of Joe's Transmission in Lake Bottom. Joe began working as a mechanic and transmission specialist at the age of nineteen. After retirement he still enjoyed spending time at the garage. He was a member of Princeton Moose Lodge #1521.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Christine Phillips Williams in November; and one brother, James Gilbert Williams.
He is survived by three sons, Johnny Williams and wife Sherry, Steve Williams and wife Kim, and Bobby Williams and wife Linda, all of Rock; nine grandchildren, Anna Baxter, Adrienne, Katlyn, Summer, Autumn, Cody, Matthew, Mikkia, and Abbi Williams; one great-granddaughter, Caylee Baxter; one brother, Frankie Williams of Princeton; two sisters, Thelma Carter of Rock, and Gertie Goodman and husband Bill of Black Oak; and special friend, Junior Farmer of Rock.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Victor Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at the Williams Family Cemetery at Black Oak. Pallbearers will be Andy Jones, Chris Lawrence, Paul Thompson, Walter Robinette, Darrell Thompson, and Junior Farmer.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the service hour Tuesday.
