Larry Ray Kennedy, Sr, 68, of Iaeger, WV, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017, in the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.
Ray was born October 20, 1949, in Jolo, WV, a son of the late Hollie and Celia Mullins Kennedy.
He worked for 27 years in the coal preparation industry as a welder, electrician, and maintenance worker. Ray was a Christian and loved mechanic work and gardening.
In addition to his parents Ray was preceded in death by a step daughter, Neva Cooper; one brother, Homer Kennedy; and a daughter-in-law, Misty Bishop Kennedy.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna Payne Kennedy of the home; three sons, Larry Ray Kennedy, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Statesville, NC, John Christopher Kennedy of Garland, WV, and Dale Hawks of Statesville, NC; five brothers, Garnie Kennedy and wife Gilda of Rocky Gap, VA, Lowell Kennedy and wife Bertha of Bradley, WV, Hollie Kennedy Jr. and wife Charlotte, Harold Kennedy and wife Debbie, and Ronnie Kennedy and wife Lee all of Lebanon, VA; one sister, Deanna Hurst of Centerburg, OH; eleven grandchildren, Dustin, Corey, Kasey, and Dakota Cooper, Joseph Dotson, Skyler Hawks, Pamula Rogers, Jamie Ray Kennedy and wife Brianna, and Kyla, Melanie, Brooklyn and Presley Kennedy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 12 o'clock with Reverend Adam Wheeler and Reverend Danny Hess officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow in the Mullins Cemetery on Coon Branch Mountain near Iaeger, WV. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger, Wednesday evening, January 3, 2018 from 6 to 9 p.m.
