Keith Douglas's Story

Text size

Goodbye my family, my life is past I loved you all to the very last Weep not for me, but courage take Love each other for my sake For those you love don't go away They walk beside you every day.
Keith Douglas "Bobby" Nash, of Bluefield, VA, son, brother, uncle, friend and angel, was granted his wings on Thursday, September 28, 2017, when he was called home by his Heavenly Father. Awaiting him with open arms, were his beloved mother and father and a host of family members whom he loved so dearly. Keith filled many hearts with joy and love during his life. Though his condition characterized him as "special needs," the words most fitting to describe Keith were "uniquely special." Keith loved everyone he met and always had a smile on his face. Keith loved his family and it was an honor and privilege to call Keith our brother.
Keith was born on May 17, 1962 to the late Lucian F. and Mable Leona Durham Nash. His mother devoted her life to taking care of him, "her baby." The happiest days of his life were spent at Cumberland Mountain Community Services. For 27 years, Keith attended the workshop where he made many friends who became his family. He loved each one of them, especially "his girls" -Ruth, Ellen, Yvonne, Kenzie, Sonya, Melissa and so many others, but Sonya was his one true love. On June 17, 2017, Keith was crowned Prom King for 2017. He beamed with joy when the crown was placed on his head and he is now beaming with joy wearing his heavenly crown. Keith was a life-long devoted member of Bailey United Methodist Church, loving the Lord all of his days.
We would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to all of the people, ,professional and personal, who showed loving compassion and excellent care to Keith and his family during his sickness.
Those left to cherish Keith's memory are his loving and devoted sister and caregiver with whom he lived, Eve Shrader and husband Joe; sister Sheri Little (Paul); brother, Mark Nash (Brenda); nephews, Mike, Steve, and Timmy Pugh, Adam and Chris Shrader, and Craig and Ben Nash; special nieces Stacy Pugh, who loved her uncle Bobby dearly, and Kimberly Butterfield; and several great nieces and nephews; Aunt Ruth Davis; Orrin and Barbara Hall.
A service to celebrate Keith's life will be held Monday October 2, 2017 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 12 noon with Chaplin David Kent and Roger Mullins officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11am until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Staff from Cumberland Mountain Community Service will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cumberland Mountain Community Services, care of Bill Wimmer, PO Box 810, Cedar Bluff, VA 24609. Please designate donations for Prom 2018, in memory of Keith Nash.
