BLUEFIELD, WV Jody Ray Neal, 68, of East Wayne Street, Bluefield, WV, died Wednesday November 29, 2017 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Born August 22, 1949 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late Claude Nelson Neal and Jannie Elizabeth Repass Neal.
Mr. Neal was a veteran who proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Green Beret and a Paratrooper. He retired as a Conductor from Norfolk & Southern Railway after 24 years of service. Mr. Neal was an avid hunter and was a fan of NASCAR and West Virginia University football. He was a very skilled carpenter. Most of all, he loved his family. He cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nephews, Scott Tabor, Matthew Spence, John Spence, Stevie Burkhart, and Aubrey Perdue.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 47 years, Jo Ann Richardson Neal; his children, Danay Neal of Princeton, WV, and Jody Neal, II and his partner, Jarrod Jessee of Bluefield, WV; son-in-law, D.J. McNamee of Cool Ridge, WV; siblings, Sharyn Tabor and husband Howard and Rita Charlene Neal, all of Columbia, SC, and Mark Neal and wife Patsy of Rocky Gap, VA; two grandchildren, Shailee McNamee of Cool Ridge, WV and Matthew McNamee of Princeton, WV; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Mercer Funeral Home on Saturday December 2, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
