Jewell C. Linkous, 94 of Cedar Bluff, VA, formerly of Tazewell, VA died Friday, February 23, 2018 at Commonwealth Assisted Living in Cedar Bluff, VA.
Born March 17, 1923 at Ocala, FL she was a daughter of the late Frank and Annie Fine Crosby. She attended the former Berwind United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for forty years and was a member of the North Tazewell United Methodist Church. Mrs. Linkous served as Postmaster at the Berwind Post Office for 33 years. She loved to quilt and to give away the quilts she made.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry "Roy" Linkous; son, Robert "Bobby" Linkous; and brother, Jimmy Crosby.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Linkous and wife, Grace Anne of the Baptist Valley community in North Tazewell, VA; two grandsons, Kevin Linkous of Baton Rouge, LA and Robert "Robbie" Linkous and wife, Rae of Abingdon, VA; two great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Monday, February 26, 2018 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM with Pastors Anthony Grills and Manny Elswick officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Linkous, Robbie Linkous, and Tom Ward.
