James "Jim"'s Story

James "Jim" Thomas Moore, 86, of Bluefield, VA (Abbs Valley), was welcomed into heaven by his heavenly father Saturday September 2, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Camp Creek, WV he was the son of the late James and Tessie Gray Moore. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He was employed as a coalminer and was a member of the Boissevain Baptist Church serving as a Deacon for over 50 years. Jim always arrived early for services and was the "official greeter" at church and loved his congregation family.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings Doc Moore, Gertie Burchfield and Easter Cook and daughter-in-law Missy Moore.
Jim was a faithful husband of sixty-three years and is survived by his loving wife Iris Jeanette Moore of the home. Jim was a devoted father to his children James Thomas "Tommy" Moore and wife Cindy of Abbs Valley, VA, David Moore of New Oxford, PA and special companion Edna Bowman of Pulaski, VA and Tina Sue Krug and husband Jerry of Brementon, Washington; brothers, Walter Moore and wife Eva of North Carolina, Hubert Moore and wife Hazel of Abbs Valley, VA and Joe Moore and wife Sandy of Brandywine, Maryland; sister Laura Pultz of Harrisburg, NC; three grandchildren Jessica Hall and husband Justin of Bluefield, VA, David Moore, Jr and wife Brittany of Gettysburg, PA and Amanda Moore and husband Francisco of New Oxford, PA; three great grandchildren Sophie Hall and Kalei Hall of Bluefield, VA and namesake Brody James Moore of New Oxford, PA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA with the Rev. Reginald Blakewood officiating. Viewing will be Tuesday September 5, 2017 from 12pm to 2 pm at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #14 and the VFW 9696 of Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
