Bluefield, WV James Paul Hubbard, 68 of Bluefield, WV, died Monday May 15, 2017 in a Roanoke hospital.
Born February 8, 1949 in Athens, WV, he was a son of the late Paul C. Hubbard and Hazel Hubbard Mills.
Mr. Hubbard was a graduate of Athens High School and attended Bluefield State College. He had worked as an Electrician at Mobil Chemical and had worked as and Electrician and Foreman at U.S. Steel. He later owned and operated his own business, Interstate Builders and worked as the Maintenance Supervisor for CASE WV. Mr. Hubbard was the supreme NASCAR enthusiast. He was a football fan and had played semi-pro basketball in Connecticut.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Calvin Mills; and a half-sister, Theresa Jane Mills.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Oraetta Kennedy Hubbard, of the home; siblings, David Hubbard, Imogene Terry and husband Paul of Oakvale, WV, Ruby Joyner of Youngsville, NC, Maxine Price and husband David of Bluefield, VA, and Kathy Liretta of Houma, LA; many nieces and nephews who love and miss him; and his fur babies, Kez, Dollie, Midnight, and Misty.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday May 23, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at Mercer Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Terry and Pastor Heath Kennedy officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour.?
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday May 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
