CHILHOWIE, Va. James Ward Hamblin, 71, of Chilhowie, VA formerly of Princeton, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.
Jim was born June 29, 1945 in Montcolm, WV; he was a son of the late Eugene Warren Hamblin and the late Millicent Spaulding Hamblin.
He loved to hunt and fish; and was of the Baptist Faith. Jim served his country proudly both in the United States Air Force and the United States Army Rangers having served as a MP and the Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery; and worked for more than 10 years at CNX Gas Company until his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Patrick Hamblin; a sister, Mary Jane Shavor; and a brother, David Hamblin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 46 years, Jeanne Wall Hamblin; a son, James Matthew Hamblin of Elkins, WV; a daughter, Erin Elizabeth Moore and husband, Brandon of Chilhowie, VA; a grandson, Aiden James Moore of Chilhowie; a granddaughter, Abigail Elizabeth Moore of Chilhowie, VA; three sisters, Elizabeth Moore and husband, Mike; Margaret Wood, and Donna Morgan; a brother, Peter Hamblin and wife, Stephanie; extended family and friends.
Services to celebrate the life of James "Jim" Ward Hamblin will be held 3:00PM Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, WV with Pastor Ron Thomure and Pastor David Gary officiating. Following the services Jim will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Garden of the Last Supper. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family from 1:00PM until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
