James's Story

James Edward Farley, 76, of Bluefield departed this life on January 3, 2018 at his home.
Born January 8, 1941 in Pipestem, WV he was the son of the late James A. Farley and Pearl St.Clair Farley. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Agriculture. James enjoyed hunting, his vegetable garden and family gatherings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Farley; and sisters, Norma Farley, Susanna McFarland and Janice Tabor.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of forty years, Sharon Porterfield Farley of Bluefield; two sons, Jason Farley and companion Misty Bandy and Lewis Harris all of Bluefield; two daughters, Karla Thompson and husband Tommy of Bluefield, VA and Karen Wright and husband Steve of Crockett, VA; six grandchildren, Dr. Rhenda Harris of Jonesville, VA, Alyssa Harris of Radford, VA, Michael Mitchem of Crockett, VA, T.J. Stone of Crockett, VA, Dakoda Harris of Bastian, VA, and Iziah Bandy of Bluefield; one great granddaughter, Alexis Stone of Rural Retreat, VA; one brother, Eugene Farley of Princeton; five sisters, Doris Belcher of Bristol, TN, Eva Warfe of Princeton, Malinda Davis of Pulaski, VA, Patricia Farley and Catherine Farley both of Charleston, WV; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In honoring James' wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Lacy Brooks officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the service hour on Sunday.
