Hughie "Red"'s Story
Hughie "Red" S. Sullivan, 88 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 at his home. Born in Washington County, VA, he was the son of the late Charles Banner and Lucy Florence Hall Sullivan.
"Red" had proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He loved horse shows and fairs. He also enjoyed trips to Florida and riding his 4-wheeler and loved going out to eat.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Pauline White Sullivan; brother: Bill Sullivan; daughters-in-law: Lisa and Geneva Sullivan; son-in-law: Wayne Pruett.
He will be lovingly and affectionately missed by his children: Charles C.J. Sullivan of Bluefield, VA, Billy Sullivan (Rhonda) of Tazewell, VA and Reva Pruett (Doug Dye) of Tazewell, VA; sisters: Louise Castle (B.L.) of Florida, Cora Smith of Pikeville, KY, Betty Jones (Tommy Finch) of St. Paul, VA; grandchildren: JB, Amanda, Rachel, Jonathan and Abigail; great-grandsons: Braxton and P.J. He was affectionately known to all as "Paw-Paw" Sullivan.
A service to celebrate "Red's" life will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev George Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, VA on Wednesday at 1:30 P.M.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Mortuary.
