Henry Miller of Smyrna, DE, passed away at his home on Friday, March 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
He was 88.
Mr. Miller was born March 20, 1929 in Boissevain, VA, the son of the late Paul Miller and Jannie (Holler) Miller.
He served his country with honor in the U.S. Army, Mechanized Calvary Division during the end of WWII.
He retired after a long career as a UAW for the GM plant in Newport, Delaware. He was a man with a very strong work ethic, never missing work, even when he was sick or injured. Henry started his working career at a young age, beginning at Peerless Coal & Coke Company.
Henry loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing and horseback riding, he was a Cowboy at heart.
He also was a strong man of faith, receiving several bible course certifications. He was a member of The Pentecostals Church of Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Miller; and five brother, Douglas, Dewey, Floyd, Raymond and Elwood Miller.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandy McGinnis of Smyrna; his son, James Miller and his wife, Verna Faye of Clayton, DE; 4 grandchildren, Shannon J., Shawn H., Jaime, and Dustin; 13 great grandchildren, Orion, Ella, Leo, Damien, Sabrina, Xavier, Shawn, Courtney, Zack, Kiersten, Cassidy, Kyle, and Lil John; two great great grandchildren, Aliahana and Michael; and his sister, Sadie Miller of Christiansburg, VA.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 am at Grandview Memorial Gardens, located in Bluefield, VA.
