Harold Jack Akers, 75, of Springville, VA passed away September 23, 2017 with his loving wife Judy and family by his side.
He was born July 14, 1942 to Ivory Goldine Smith and Bernerd Fleet Akers. He was the devoted husband of Judy Akers for 54 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He attended Bluefield Virginia Church of God. Retired from Consol after 26 years and had worked at Bishop, Jenkinjones and Buchanan #1 coalmines.
Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by wife Judy, 2 children: Drema Diane Byrd (Buddy), and Harold Jack Akers, Jr (Anissa) both of Springville, VA. Grandchildren: Cory Lee Byrd, Austin Dakota Akers and Isaac Cundiff all of Springville, VA. 1 brother: Charles Wesley Akers (Robin) of Siler City, NC, 4 sisters: Margaret Snell (Gerald) of Talbott, TN, Debbie Cole of Charlotte, NC, Ethel Ward (Kenny) of Bluefield, VA and Jenny Angles (Ronnie) of Brushfork, WV and his loving puppy Sugar.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday September 26, 2017 at 1:00pm at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Akers officiating. Friends may call from 11:00am up until hour of service. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Buddy Byrd, Cory Byrd, Dakota Akers, Isaac Cundiff, Kenny Ward and Charles Akers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bluefield Virginia Church of God Life Center.
