PRINCETON - Grace Howerton, 88, of Princeton passed away peacefully Friday, May 10, 2019 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Born March 20, 1931 at Herndon, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. & Metta M. Garretson Lusk.
Grace was a graduate of Herndon High School and Bluefield Business College. She retired from the Maidenform where she worked in the office for more than 35 years.
Grace had a quick sense of humor and a biting wit. She was an avid gardener and had a miraculous green thumb. She was dedicated to her family and was strengthened by warm memories of her lifelong friends and her home in Princeton.
In her final months she was very blessed to be surrounded by the loving caregivers at Reflections Assisted Living in Myrtle Beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, Harold V. Howerton; a son Larry Vernon Howerton; her siblings: Roy Lusk; Tollison Lusk, Jr.; Carrie McKinney & Pansie Snyder.
Those left to cherish her memory, one sister, Myrtle Mills of Herndon; her daughters Peggy Spangler (Conrad) of Myrtle Beach, SC; Sherri Branski (Neal) of Raleigh, NC; and Nancy Sullivan (Bruce) of Huntington; her grandchildren, Conrad T. Spangler IV (Twila), Reidsville, NC; Harold Thomas Spangler (Andrea), Richmond, VA; Nick Branski, Raleigh, NC; Sarah Pruitt (Jeremy), Raleigh, NC; and great grandchildren Conrad Spangler, V (CT); Frank Spangler; Montanna Spangler; Reygan Spangler; and Olivia Grace Pruitt. She is also survived by several caring nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Grace Howerton will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2019, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Charles Drake officiating. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.
Family & friends will serve as pallbearers.

The Honor of serving the Howerton family has been given to the Memorial Funeral Directory & Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
